Doris Kearns Goodwin is famous American biographer, historian, and political commentator. People know her for authoring biographies of several U.S. presidents.

As reported by The Collegian, Doris Kearns Goodwin talked about importance of voting at Fresno State’s Save Mart Center on Monday night. Here are some highlights as what she said.

However disheartened [eligible voters] feel, they should go to the voting booth anyways.

And even if they don’t want to vote for either one of the presidential candidates, vote for the people at the lower level.

I think we have to keep the system of voting going – just decide what you want to vote for.

The Republican Party was split then between its conservative and progressive factions, but more importantly, that’s when the first primary system was ever created.
